Display Port vs DVI

I was wondering is there a lot of difference between both DP & DVI. I have a full 12Bit monitor and heard its only way to get the full range of colours. I haven't got a DP enabled GPU but will be soon but I'm just curious

Both Display Port & DVI

Both Display Port & DVI deliver Digital Signal. DVI doesn't carry audio controller while DP does carry audio and video.

Both are digital interfaces. DisplayPort can carry both video and audio. DVI can only carry video.
